Zarate joined Queens Athletics as an assistant swimming coach in 2025.
Zarate arrives in the Queen City with more than a decade of coaching experience across collegiate and high-performing club programs. Most recently, she is serving with SwimMAC Carolina as a Division Lead and Lead Coach, guiding 11–14-year-old athletes across multiple sites and spearheading a team-wide character development curriculum. She is contributing to SwimMAC’s rise as the nation’s top club while leading training groups responsible for numerous state top-five performances and multiple Zones Team qualifiers.
Before her time at SwimMAC, Zarate held impactful coaching roles with Team Eugene, Swim Torrance, the University of Northern Colorado, and DePauw University. Her experience spans designing comprehensive season plans, coordinating dryland and strength programs, overseeing meet operations, and supporting recruiting, compliance, travel, and budget management at the collegiate level. Her athletes have gone on to earn state titles, break team records, and compete at national-level meets.
Since joining the Royals, Zarate has leaned on her technical expertise, developmental focus, and leadership skills to strengthen Queens’ training environment and support the continued growth of the program.
A Charlotte native, Zarate began her coaching career with SwimMAC Carolina in 2012 after completing her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Visual Arts from Emory University. She later earned her Master of Science from Indiana State University.
