Event Information

Competition Venue:
McAlpine Creek Park Championship Cross Country Course
8711 Monroe Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28212
-Home of Footlocker High School Regional Championships since 1980
-Home of 1999 NCAA Division I Conference USA Championships
-Home of 2000 Great American Cross Country Festival

Course Maps:
Course maps are available at the following…
Women’s 6K     [Two (2) 3,000-m loops]
Men’s 10K         [One (1) 4,200-m loop & Two (2) 2,900-m loops]

Course:
-Start line is approx. 400-feet wide arced across a level grass field
-First turn is approx. 800-meters into the race
-Majority of course is run on a crushed limestone path
-Each loop has one significant incline of 150-meters and a 75-meter decline
-Mile markers and split timers will be provided
-Races will be led by a Bicycle Riding Leader and trailed by a Motor Vehicle with Athletic Trainer

Start Boxes:
-Start boxes will be randomly assigned on Monday, October 31
-Each team will be assigned a Starting Box Chaperone to manage sweats and gear

Course Preview:
McAlpine Creek Park is open to the public daily from sunrise to sunset. Queens will host a preview meet on Friday, October 14. The course will also be open on Friday, November 4, 9:00am-dusk.

Timing/Scoring:
-FlashResults Timing 
-FinishLynx color camera, plus IdentiLynx head on camera at finish line
-IPICO chip timing system with backup mat
-Mid-race split mat

Parking:
Reserved parking will be available for officials and team vans at the entrance to the park. Buses will be directed to park in the upper lot by the soccer field. Parking for spectators is free and located at the park.

Tickets:
Tickets will be available for purchase the day of the race at the course entrance. Admission prices are as follows…

Entries are due by midnight, Eastern Time, Wednesday, October 19, at www.directathletics.com. Please enter up to 10 potential participants who are eligible to compete. Coaches will declare the seven actual competitors at the coaches meeting on Friday, November 4.
