"This was a great weekend for our program," said Director of Cross Country and Track and Field
Jim Vahrenkamp. "We had a lot of people finish higher than their national ranking. As a program, we were able to capture five All-American awards. That marks the most in a single championship over the past five years. It is further evidence that our program is moving in the right direction. Each of these athletes has put in countless hours of work and hundreds of miles. Seeing them achieve at the national championships is a very gratifying feeling. Additionally, I would be remiss if I didn't recognize the hours of work that the other members of this coaching staff have put in to get us where we are today."
As a team, the women placed 34
th at the championships with five points, while the men placed 36
th with four points.
The Royals return to action to begin the outdoor season on Friday, March 16, at the 49er Classic hosted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
