TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's triathlon teams completed their season at the USA Triathlon Collegiate Club Nationals over the weekend with the men finishing in fourth place with a total of 2,006 points and the women finishing seventh with a total of 1,956 points. Colorado won on the women's side with 2,202 points while the United States Naval Academy took the win in the men's competition with 2,200 points.
The draft legal collegiate club sprint took place on Friday prior to the collegiate club national championships that took place on Saturday.
Graham Pimentel highlighted Queens' men in the event taking eighth place in 58:02.
Hunter Janus also raced in the event finishing 19
th in 1:00:34.
Caroline Condon competed in the women's race finishing 67
th in 1:15:57.
On Saturday 796 racers competed in the men's Olympic-distance competition and Queens saw seven of its men finish with a time between 2:00 and 2:09. However, four score penalties would cause the Royals to fall from third place to fourth. Milan Tomlin led Queens finishing in 2:02:49. Eli Smith was the next Royal to cross the finish line clocking a time of 2:03:15, while
Eric Kirouac was 55
th in 2:04:26.
Of the 132 men's teams at the competition, the Royals were the youngest by class. Additionally, a pair of incoming freshmen,
Oliver Porter and
Jared Eytcheson, competed with NC Varsity Tri in the high school competition taking second place.
In the women's race,
Tereza Zimovjanova raced to a 10
th place finish in 2:23:33 to lead the Royals.
Paula Garcia followed for Queens in 52
nd place clocking a time of 2:32:54, while Condon was 70
th in 2:35:39.
