EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Queens University of Charlotte's
Hannah Wolkenhauer finished in 19
th-place, as the Queens women's cross country team posted a 23
rd-place finish at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. Wolkenhauer's result marked the highest individual finish by a Royals runner at the national meet in the history of the women's program.
"I'm very proud of how our women competed today," said Queens head coach
Kevin Licht. "While it was not our best team race, they gained valuable experience for the future."
"It was great to see Hannah go for the win. She's worked very hard to be at that level and I'm glad she raced fearlessly."
Wolkenhauer ran the 6k course at Angel Mounds in a time of 21:27.5, earning All-America honors as a result of her top-40 finish. She finished less than a minute off of the pace of Caroline Kurgat of the University of Alaska Anchorage, who won the individual crown with a time of 20:32.3.
The previous Queens record for highest finish at the national meet was set by Caitie Byrd who took 25th-place in 2015.

th.
As a team, the Royals compiled 584 points. Adams State University won the National Championship with a total of 126 points.
