Day One Results
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's swimming team won all five events on the first day of competition in the Fall Frenzy hosted by Queens at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
Queens took the top two spots in the first race of the day, the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of
Marius Kusch,
Paul Pijulet,
Dmytro Sydorchenko and
Ben Mayes finished in the top spot with an NCAA B Standard time of 1:18.81, a new program record. The group of
Bradford Hancock,
Enzo Pazos,
Mitchell Harwood and
Parker Cook-Weeks record a time of 1:21.98 to finish second in the event.
Kusch was an individual winner in the 500-yard freestyle race, finishing with a time of 4:24.05, a mark good enough for an NCAA Division I B Standard, while
Nicholas Arakelian also had an NCAA Division I B time in the 200-yard I.M. Arakelian finished first overall with a mark of 1:46.97 and teammate
Alen Mosic had an NCAA Division II B time of 1:51.66 in the race.
Sydorchenko (19.89) and Pijulet (20.07) took the top two spots in the 50-yard freestyle, followed by teammates Mayes (20.40) and Pazos (20.77) who finished third and fourth, respectively.
Queens 400-yard medley relay team of Mosic, Arakelian, Pazos and Sydorchenko claimed a first place finish and qualified for the postseason with an NCAA B time of 3:16.49, just over two seconds ahead of the next closest team.
Day Two of the Fall Frenzy continues tomorrow morning in Charlotte.
