ROCK HILL, S.C.– Queens University of Charlotte's
Yannick Stubbe has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, while Queens'
Catie Byrd has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week according to the release from the conference office on September 23, 2015.
Stubbe ran 25:54.2 in the 8k race at the Winthrop invitational on September 19. He finished third in the field for Division II runners and placed ninth overall. Stubbe's performance helped the Royals to a first- place finish for Division II teams at the meet with teammates
Henno Havenga and
Justin Weegar following suit, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. The honor marks his first Runner of the Week plaudit this season.
Byrd landed a first place finish in the 5k race at the Winthrop Invitational where she crossed the line at a time of 18:31. She took the third overall position at the meet comprised of Division II and Division I runners. The Royals' women's cross-country team was also awarded with a first-place finish for Division II teams. This honor marks her first Runner of the Week nod this season.
