Full ResultsJoplin, Mo.- The Queens University of Charlotte women's cross country team combined to take the No. 28 spot at the NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 21, 2015. The Royals were led by
Catie Byrd who crossed the finish line with a 21:06.8 to take 23 points with 25
th place.
Byrd finished with the highest ranking in Queens History, topping her performance from the year prior when she finished the national race in 32
nd place. The run would also be a personal best for Byrd who claimed All-America status.
The women's team stepped it up today," said Cross Country Coach
Tsehaye Baney. "Our top five girls set personal best in challenging weather conditions. I could not have been happier. The women were also able to finish second in the region, moving past Wingate."
Lucie Noall ran the course with a 22:26.6 to finish in 122
nd place and scoring 101 points. The freshman ran over a minute and a half faster than her time at the Southeast Regional race just two weeks prior.
Sarah Bomkamp and
Megan Delamer crossed next for the team with Bomkamp securing 199
th place with a 23:17.7 as Delamer took 214
th with a 23:23.6. Bomkamp would score 176 points while Delamer took 189 points as both ran a personal best.
Hannah Wolkenhauer took the last scoring run for the Royals crossing in 224
th place and taking 199 points. She would run a 23:58.7 personal best.
Also competing for the Royals were
Summer McFadden who finished with a 24:39.0 for 243
rd place and
Louise Hill-Sterling who finished with a 24:39.2 for 244
th place (personal record).
The race marks the end of the Royals 2015 cross country season.
