Results LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Despite losing a shoe after the first mile of today's NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship, junior runner
Catie Byrd went on to turn in the best individual finish in program history taking 32
nd in the race.
Byrd posted a time of 21:58.5 to finish ahead of teammate
Megan Wright who took 47
th place in 22:13.2. Today was the first time since the 2012 season that the Royals had runners competing in the national championship, and Byrd's finish edged Kimone Hewiitt's 33
rd place finish in 2010 for the top spot in program history.
Grand Valley State took the team title today after totaling 50 points. Kendra Foley of the Lakers took the individual title in 21:05.8 as teammates Allyson Winchester and Jessica Janecke followed in second and third place, respectively.
Out of the southeast region, Montevallo took 25
th, Wingate took 29
th, and North Georgia took 31
st.
