Results ROCK HILL, S.C. – Junior golfer
Iris Katla led the Royals today as they finished fifth at the Winthrop Invitational. The Royals shot a 335 in the rain-shortened 18-hole tournament that concluded Sunday afternoon at the Rock Hill Country Club. Appalachian State shot a 323 to finish in first place, while Wofford took second with a 328.
The Royals finished just three swings behind the hosting Eagles who totaled a 332 with Katla's 82 leading the way. She would finish play tied in eighth place.
Kylie Nizolek trailed Katla by just one stroke, finishing tied in 12
th with an 83, while
Kadi Pallastrone shot an 84 to tie for 22
nd place.
Taylor Penzer (86) and
Grace Glaze (89) wrapped up Queens' play tied in 27
th and 32
nd, respectively.
Only three golfers in the 47-player field managed to break 80. Appalachian State's Madalyn Davis and Wofford's Lauren Dunbar each shot a 78 to tie for first, while Winthrop's Jennifer Dilger shot a 79 for third place.
Queens was the only NCAA Division II institution competing today.
Today's tournament wrapped up the fall schedule for the Royals and they will return to play in February.
