ANDERSON, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's golf team came up just a bit short in capturing their first victory of the season at the Anderson University Invitational putting together a score of 312, improving ten strokes from yesterday's 322 total. However, the two day total of 634 was just one shot off the pace as Erskine College (633) took home the title.
Iris Katla shaved off eight strokes from her score of 82 yesterday to post a two day total of 156 (82-74), earning herself a fourth place finish as well as a spot on the all-tournament team. Katla's round of 74 is also a new personal collegiate best.
Also improving eight shots from yesterday was sophomore Grace Glaze who finished with a two round total of 158 (83-75). The round jumped Glaze up 11 spots for a T-6 finish.
Alexa Clark backed up her round of 79 with an 80 today giving her a top 10 finish as well (T-8). The two-day total of 159 was a career best for Clark, playing in just her third event as a collegiate.
Rounding out the top five for the Royals were Shannon Fraser and Taylor Penzer who posted two-day scores of 161 and 167 respectively.
The Royals were one of the most balanced and consistent teams on the week as they were only one of two teams to have three players finish inside the top 10 with eventual champion Erskine being the other.
The Royals will be looking to keep up the momentum for the rest of the fall season and will tee it up again at the Lady Bearcat Invitational hosted by Lander University on September 28 and 29.
