ANDERSON, S.C.- Freshman golfer
Grace Glaze knocked two strokes off her first day score, shooting a 74 to solidify the first place spot individually at the Anderson University Invitational. The Royals as a team carded a 637 for second place behind Flagler College who shot a 621. Coming in third place was Coker College with a 651.
Glaze finished the two round tournament with a 150 to lead Queens University of Charlotte and the entire field of golfers.
Taylor Penzer (83-78) was the next highest finisher from Queens in 12th place with a two round score of 161 after shaving five points off of her score from yesterday. Right behind her was
Iris Katla (80-82) who completed play tied in 13th with a 162.
Laura Belanger (83-82) and
Shannon Fraser (82-91) wrapped up the Royals' scoring in 18th and 31st, respectively.
The Royals will be back in action at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate from September 30- October 1.
Day One
Queens University of Charlotte began their women's golf season today at the Anderson University Invitational. The Royals currrently sit in second place after totaling a 321. Flagler holds the first place spot after shooting a 310.
Freshman
Grace Glaze (Clemson, S.C., D.W. Daniel ) shot a 76 putting her in a great position to finish first individually. She is currently second behind Flagler's Olivia Ferrer who scored a 75.
Queens saw an 80 from
Iris Katla (Reykjavik, Iceland, Commercial College of Iceland), an 82 from
Shannon Fraser (Saline, Mich., Saline), an 83 from
Laura Belanger (Waxhaw, N.C., Parkwood) and an 83 from
Taylor Penzer (Summerfield, N.C., Northern Guilford).
The Royals will be back on the course tomorrow for the second and final round.
