CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Cheerleading and Women's Soccer teams participated in the Second Annual Stiletto Sprint this past Saturday. The Stiletto Sprint is an annual event that features participants racing 60 yards in high heels to help raise money and awareness for the fight against Ovarian Cancer.
Both teams chose to participate in the cause following the loss of close friends and family members to Ovarian Cancer. The soccer team helped set up the event and served as a cheering section, and the cheerleaders participated in the race and helped raise over $2,000 for the cause.
Not only did the athletes help a great cause, but were positively affected as well.
“Our team got more out of this event than we could have ever given. We were honored to be involved in such a wonderful cause,” said Head Soccer Coach
Katie Talbert.
“We got so much out of this experience,” added Head Cheerleading Coach
Lori Townsend. “It was an amazing opportunity for the team to take part in something so valuable. We hope that the Stiletto Sprint remains a fixture on our calendar for years to come!”
The event raised a total of over $64,000 this year, and more information can be found at the event's
website.
