CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte alongside Head Women's Soccer Coach
Katie Talbert is pleased to announce the addition of seven student-athletes to the program for the 2012 season.
Nadia Butt,
Alison Charland,
Nikki Hoff,
Emily Mager,
Kaitlyn Olive,
Mary Stringini and
Emily Werner make up the group of newcomers.
Butt hails from Houston, Texas where she attends Cypress Lakes High School. The forward/defender also plays club for Albion Hurricanes '94 Blue West team. For four years, the talented player has served as her club team and high school team captain. She was named to the all-district first team in addition to being named team MVP this season. Off the field, Butt is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the National Honor Society, PALS and Blue Crew. Butt has been a volunteer at Blessings Camp, for special needs children, since the ninth grade. She has also been playing the violin since the age of four and has been first chair since the sixth grade.
Charland will be a graduate of Keller High School in Keller, Texas upon arrival. The senior is also a member of FC Dallas, a club team. This past season she was named to the all-district second team.
Hoff, a Cary N.C., native is a versatile player who can play the forward, center midfield and defense positions. The senior has been a captain for Cary High School's women's soccer team
for the past two seasons in addition to being named 2012 captain of her club team, U18 Liberty FC. Hoff is also a member of the National Honor Society and was named to the Honor Roll. She is the daughter of Diane and Lee Hoff and the older sister of Kim (15) and Michael (12).
From Anderson County High School in Lawrenceburg, Ky., is goalkeeper
Emily Mager. Mager also plays club for the 2011 state championship winning Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club. Mager is the number one goalie in the state and has been named to the all-state, all-district and all-region teams. She has also been named academic all-state first team, which is awarded to student-athletes with 3.75 GPAs or higher, for four years. Mager is a member of the National
Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. The goalie has been playing in the net since the age of seven and currently carries a 3.9 GPA with AP classes.
Olive, a Charlotte native, will join the Royals from Olympic High School where she played right back and center midfield. Her recognitions include being named to the all-conference and all-
region squads, while also earning the Iron Man Award. Olive plays club for the CUFC U18 Gold.
Stringini is a forward hailing from Shorewood, Minn. There she attends Minnetonka High School
where is participates in basketball, soccer and track. She also plays club for Minnesota Thunder Academy where she has been the leading scorer for the past four years. Stringini has scored 59 goals for the Shorewood team and was named to the all-state and all-conference squads. The four-year varsity player participated in Minnesota's ODP, and played with a team from Sweden in the USA cup. Stringini led the team in scoring and they won the cup. Off the field, Stringini has earned the 2008 Lasalian Scholarship Award, the Fine Arts Award, the Digital Photography “Visual” Award, while also earning a music letter in choir for two years. The stand-out is also very involved in giving back to the community volunteering with Vision Walk, Share the Vision, Feed My Starving Children,the West Metro Learning Center, Seva Futbol and Teens Encounter Christ.
Werner is a defender from Little Falls, N.J., where she attends Immaculate Heart Academy. She is also a member of
World Class/Arsenal Fury. Werner is a four-year varsity starter for the Blue Eagles helping them win four league titles. They were also three-time Bergen County Champions and three-time Non-Public A State Champions. Werner has been named to the all-county first team and the all-state second team. The three-year New Jersey State ODP player also participated in the Super Y-League National ODP Camp. She was also a member of the 2010 World Class National Champions at the Disney Showcase. Werner excels off the field as well being named to the Honor Roll all four years of high school while also being on the Green Revolution Executive Board. Her role on the board enabled her to participate in the climate change studies for Rutgers University. Werner is the daughter of Ron and Christine and will be majoring in nursing.
