Royals complete Flagler Fall Slam in 10th

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Queens University of Charlotte women's golf team completed play at the Flagler Fall Slam this afternoon in 10th place with a 638 after shooting a 318 in round one and a 320 in round two. Taking the team title was Barry (296-307--603), while Flagler (316-306--622) finished second followed by Tusculum (311-312--623) in third.

Grace Glaze (80-78--158) and Iris Katla (78-81--159) of Queens were able to finish in the top-25 ending the day tied in 22nd and 25th, respectively. Shannon Fraser (77-86--163) added nine strokes to her first round score and finished tied in 42nd place, while Taylor Penzer (85-79--164) shaved six strokes off of her score to end things tied in 49th. Laura Belanger (83-82--165) wrapped up Queens' play tied in 53rd.

Armstrong's Jenna Birch took the individual title shooting a 145 in the two round tournament.

The tournament was the final one of the fall for Queens, and the Royals will compete again at the World Golf Invitational in the spring.

Day One 

The Queens University of Charlotte women's golf team traveled to St. Augustine, Fla., to compete in the Flagler Fall Slam. The Royals currently sit in sixth place after shooting a 318 in round one of competition. The top three spots are held by Barry (296), Tusculum (311) and Saint Leo (315), respectively, while tournament host Flagler (316) is tied in fourth with Mount Olive (316).
 
Out of the 91 player field, Queens' Shannon Fraser (Saline, Mich., Saline) sits tied in 10th place after firing a five over 77. Iris Katla (Reykjavik, Iceland, Commercial College of Iceland) (78) is one stroke behind Fraser tied in 16th place, while Grace Glaze (Clemson, S.C., D.W. Daniel ) shot an 80 and is tied in 25th place. Laura Belanger (Waxhaw, N.C., Parkwood) (T48) and Taylor Penzer (Summerfield, N.C., Northern Guilford) (T64) shot an 83 and 85, respectively.
 
Nicole Ferre (71) and Nancy Vergara (72) lead the field individually in first and second place.
 
The second and final round will be played tomorrow.
