Track has strong day one showing at ETSU meet

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.- The Royals had a strong showing today at East Tennessee State University's two day meet.

Christopher Watson (Tampa, Fla., Wharton) competed well in the open 400m with a second place finish in his heat and a 33rd/73 overall finish. Kimone Hewitt (Orange County, Calif., Segerstown) debuted in the 800m open race with a 2:16.08 and fourth place overall finish. Mathilde Timboni (Prévessin-Möens, France, Prévessin-Möens) joined her teammate in the women's open 800m race, and finished 15th overall in a time of 2:22.61.

Lucrecia Waller (Conyer, Ga., Conyer) began the Royals out in the field events. Her shot put throw of 7.28-meters gave her a 33rd place finish. Lauren Barnett (Chesterfield, Va., Lloyd C. Bird) entered into another high jump competition continuing her fight for jumping over 5-feet 4-inches. Barnett jumped 5-feet 2.25-inches for a seventh place finish overall beating other competitors from Western Carolina, Lees-McRea, Limestone, and UNC-Asheville.
