Bogeys plague Royals in opening round of NCAA Regional

DeBerg leads Queens with his two-over 74

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Bogeys, and a few double bogeys, plagued the Queens men's golf team in the opening round of the NCAA South/Southeast Region Championship at . Craig Deberg (Edina, Minn., Edina) turned in the best round of the Royals five with a two-over-par 74. The three round, par-72 event is being held at Victoria Hills Golf Club in DeLand, Fla. hosted by the Sunshine State Conference and the Central Florida Sports Commission.
 
DeBerg recorded five bogeys and one double bogey, but balanced out his scorecard with team-high five birdies.
 
Ryan Sevigny (Stittsville, Ontario, Sacred Heart)Christopher Baker (Bristol, UK) and Justin Fedje (Ramsey, Minn., Anoka) each finished the round six-over. David Bainbridge (England, Thomas Alleynes) had a tough round and ended the day +15.
 
No. 4 West Florida leads the 20-team field by finishing the day three-under. Queens has some ground to make up as they are in 20th place with a 308, +20.
 
Belmont Abbey and Lynn 's Peter Tarver Jones and Ricardo Gouveia are leading the 108-player field with rounds of 67, five under par.
