CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Senior middle hitter
Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley ) of the Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team has been named the September Female InterCon Student-Athlete of the Month.
Harvey played an incredible month of volleyball for the Royals helping lead her squad to a 10-4 overall record for the month. Queens was also undefeated at 5-0 in conference play during September. The senior posted a .500 or higher hitting percentage in four matches while posting a .300 hitting percentage or higher in eight. For the month, she averaged 2.02 kills and 1.09 blocks per set.
Harvey's best performances on offense came in matches against Limestone, Barton and St. Andrews. Against the Saints, Harvey reached 11 kills with a .500 hitting percentage while totaling 13 kills in each of the matches against the Bulldogs and Knights. On the defensive end, Harvey leads the Royals this season with 59 total blocks, 51 of which she recorded in September. The middle hitter collected a month-high nine against Lander and Mount Olive.
Currently Harvey is ranked first in conference only stats in hitting percentage (.480) and second in blocks per set (1.08). Her overall season hitting percentage of .364 has her ranked 30
th in the nation. Additionally she is 41
st in the nation in blocks per set.
The Royals will be looking for Harvey's stellar performance on the court this Friday to help them take down conference powerhouse Lees-McRae College.
