Crouch selected for USA National Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte junior Michael Crouch (Yucca Valley, Calif., Yucca Valley) has been selected as a member of the USA National Team competing at the NACAC (North American, Central American and Caribbean) Under 23 Track & Field Championships, announced by USA Track & Field on Friday. Crouch will compete in the 5,000-meters at the championships, which will be held July 9-11th and will be hosted by the United States in Miramar, Fla.

Crouch was the NCAA Division II 5,000-meter runner-up this spring after returning from a hernia. He is a two-time NCAA champion having won both the NCAA indoor 5,000-meters and outdoor 1500-meters in 2009 and has a personal best of 13:40.89 for the distance.

“This is a part of the progression Michael is on,” said coach Scott Simmons. “It is a great opportunity for him to gain international experience in preparation for bigger and better things ahead.”

The 32 NACAC member nations include Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, St. Kitts/ Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, The Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turk and Caicos Islands, United States Virgin Islands, and United States of America.
