CHARLOTTE, N.C.- In the last Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings of the 2010 season the Queens University of Charlotte women’s tennis team entered the national poll for the second time this year, coming in at No. 47.
The Royals had a perfect 17-0 regular season record and advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament after taking the runner-up spot at the Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament. Overall, Queens finished the 2009-2010 campaign with a record of 20-2. The two losses came from two nationally ranked programs, No. 49 Erskine and No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic. Erskine defeated Queens in the final round of the conference tournament, only to be defeated by the Royals in the opening round of the regional tournament. The Royals fell to No. 1 Armstrong in the second round of regional play.
Regionally, Queens moved up one spot from ninth to eighth, the highest for the Royals this season.
The Royals had ranked as high as No. 40, but fell out of the poll for the May 4th posting.
