CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) has announced the 2010 Scholar All-Americans and senior men’s lacrosse player
Hunter Roof (Prince Frederick, Md., Calverton) has been named to the list. The award is presented to senior players, across all three divisions, who have a gpa of 3.0 or better and been selected as an All-American or a member of the North/South All-Star game. Roof was named USILA All-America Honorable Mention earlier this week.
In addition to the two qualifications stated above, the USILA also looks at the behavior of the player both on and off the field and if the player has brought positive recognition to the individual, team and institution.
“I was very proud to see Hunter receive the award,” said Head Coach Jim Fritz. “With the strict requirements only a select group of players receive the award each year so it speaks volumes for what he was able to accomplish on and off the field here while at Queens.”
Roof has had a decorated career while playing for Queens. He has three times been named to the Conference Carolinas All-Academic team, three times to a Conference Carolinas All-Conference team, one time All-Tournament team, a two-time team captain, and earned team awards twice.
For Queens, Roof is the second Royal to earn the USILA Scholar All-American distinction and the sixth player in Coach Fritz’s career.
