CHARLOTTE, N.C.-
Queens University of Charlotte is proud to announce
Chantel Dodge (Shalimar, Fla., Choctawhatchee) as the April Female InterCon Student-Athlete of the Month. This is second consecutive InterCon Student-Athlete of the Month award for Dodge as she was named the March recipient.
"Chantel has done a tremendous job on the mound for us,” said Head Softball Coach Stacey Schramm, “ All season, Chantel gave us an opportunity to win by giving a consistent level of effort. She has matured in just one year, and really worked hard at keeping hitters off balance. She did not have as many strikeouts as last year, but her improved ability to beat them by forcing ground outs or pop ups has led to our overall success."
During the month of April Dodge helped Queens win the 2010 Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. Overall, the team was 10-4 and Dodge amassed a record of 8-2. During the conference tournament she was a perfect 3-0 and pitched a nine-inning game to secure the championship win for Queens.
She was named the Conference Carolinas Co-Pitcher of the Year just before the start of the conference tournament, then picked up the hardware as the Tournament MVP.
Members of the sports information office caught up with Chantel and asked her a few questions:
