CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Scott Simmons is going to be participating in a free youth clinic on Monday hosted by Johnson C. Smith University. The objective of the track and field youth clinic is to expose youth to the benefits of education through athletics. The clinic will be sponsored by the NCAA and their corporate partners.
All local youth between the ages of 8-14 are invited to attend the clinic on Monday at Irwin Belk Complex. The event runs from 6pm-7:30pm with a 5:30 pm sign-in.
The clinic features presenters for everything from short distance, jumps, shot put, long distance and nutrition. Simmons will present training techniques for middle distance athletes.
Participants will be grouped by age and/or ability and will rotate between the five event sessions after a health and nutrition lesson.
