CHARLOTTE, N.C.—   Queens University of Charlotte is proud to announce that senior women’s basketball player Cecilia Tchangoue (St. Jean Le Blanc, France, Forsyth Country Day) has been selected to play for the USA Elite in Greensboro, N.C. USA Elite is a semi-professional team that competes in the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League.

This coming season, beginning May 15, 2010, is the second year that USA Elite will be competing. Last year, they made a huge mark in the league sharing the regular season title with one of the top teams Savannah and competing in the 2009 National Championship games in Tampa, Fla.

USA Elite is owned and coached by Temekia Moses. Moses is also the founder of the Women’s Basketball Showcase, which offers female athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills for the benefit of team representatives, scouts, and agents. Athletes who participate in the showcase are automatically considered for the USA Elite team as well. Partnered with Joe Bryant, Kobe Bryant’s father, and former professional player Shawn Farmer she helps female athletes reach their goals of playing professionally or semi-professionally.

The WBCBL's mission is to provide highly competitive basketball for women age 20 and older. The competition level will vary from former college players to former National Women’s Basketball League, NWBL, and Women’s National Basketball Association, WNBA, players and current international players. In addition, the WBCBL has built a networking relationship with professional international basketball scouts and agents to broaden the possibility of higher-level professional jobs being offered.

Tchangoue recently finished her final basketball season as a Royal leading her team to an 18-12 record, one of the program’s best finishes of the decade. Queens was also the 2010 Conference Carolinas Tournament runner-up this season.

“I am very excited to be part of USA Elite and am looking forward to working with great players and coaches,” said CC, a two-time Coaches Award recipient. ”I have always dreamed of playing at the next level so playing in the WBCBL is a huge step for me. Since my season with Queens ended, I have been working really hard in the weight room and in the gym so when the season comes I will be ready to bring my best.”
