CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens’
Travis Speer (Newtown, Conn., Newtown) and
Hunter Roof (Prince Frederick, Md., Calverton) headlined the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament men’s lacrosse team announced Sunday afternoon at Queens Sports Complex.
Playing host to the men’s lacrosse tournament for the second year in a row, Queens University of Charlotte invited fans to take part in raffles, trivia contests, and even have their lacrosse shot clocked by a radar gun.
Fans got their money’s worth, as they witness top-seeded Limestone College hold on in the final minute to defeat third-seeded Belmont Abbey College, 10-9, to win the their second-consecutive championship.
Following the championship game, the Conference Carolinas recognized the All-Tournament Team and Most Valuable Player followed by a coronation of the champions.
Speer and Roof represented the Royals; Speer tallied a goal and an assist while Roof gathered a game-high seven ground balls in their loss to runner-up Belmont Abbey.
