CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens women’s golf team finished higher than the Conference Carolinas Coaches’ Pre-season Poll predicted, second instead of third place, at the 2010 Conference Carolinas Championship. The event, held at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, N.C., was won by host school Belmont Abbey by carding 932 (309-311-312).
Queens and Pfeiffer tied for second place by shooting 987 over the three rounds. Queens shot 335 in the opening round and 326 in the following rounds while Pfeiffer shot 336, 330, and 321.
Camilla Mallberg (Stockholm, Sweden, Danderyds Gymnasium) finished eight after shooting 78 during the third round. She started the first day in third place (77), had a rough second round (87) and rebounded on the third day to finish with 242. For her efforts, she was named part of the All-Tournament team.
Natalie Mirra (Boxford, Mass., Heritage Academy) was just outside the cut for the All-Tournament team finishing 11th. Mirra carded an 81 during the third round to finish with a three-round scored o 244 (84-79-81).
Melissa Siviter was the tournament medalist by shooting 230 (76-78-76).
