CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Royals women’s golf team is in second place, behind host school Belmont Abbey, at the Conference Carolinas Championship at Tanglewood Park (Championship Course) in Clemmons, N.C. Queens fired a 335, 26 strokes off of the Abbey, in the opening round.
 
Camilla Mallberg (Stockholm, Sweden, Danderyds Gymnasium) is leading the team with a 77 (40-37) putting her in a tie for third place. Julia Wennerlund (Bjarred, Sweden, Polhemskolan) and Natalie Mirra (Boxford, Mass., Heritage Academy)are in the top 15, tied for 12th, with card totals of 84.
 
Abbey’s Melissa Siviter and Mount Olive’s Valentina Urquiola are tied for first by shooting four-over-par.
 
The second round will start at 8:30am Monday.
