Men's tennis win big

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Queens University of Charlotte’s men’s tennis team continued to pick up steam rolling into the conference tournament, sweeping Winston-Salem State University to improve to 10-5. The loss sets WSSU back to 2-19 on the season.

The Royals got the day started running through doubles action. Christiaan Lee-Daigle (Tecumseh, Ontario, L'Essor Secondary School) and Raahil Dhruva (London, England, Parmiter's) teamed up for the first flight to win 8-4. In the two and three flights, Alex McKinzie (Austin, Tex., Lake Travis) paired with Gustavo Munhoz (Santos, Brazil, COC Universitario) while Joshua Bloch (Johannesburg, South Africa, King David) paired with Christopher Kennedy (Colorado Springs, Co., TCA) to pick up 8-3 wins.

Queens continued their dominance in singles action, winning each of their matches by at least two sets. Lee-Daigle led the way in flight No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Brian Coxton, while freshman Bloch held down the No. 2 flight with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ian Hunter.

The Royals now prepare for the Conference Carolinas Tournament, set to take place in Sumter, S.C. on Friday, April 16.
