CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Queens University of Charlotte is proud to announce
Corey Geroy (Horseheads, N.Y., Horseheads) as the recipient of the InterCon Male Student-Athlete of the Month award for the month of the February.
Geroy led the Royals to a 3-1 record in the month of February, including wins over Conference Carolinas rival Pfeiffer University and Florida Southern College. Geroy led the Royals upset over No. 8 St. Leo University when he scored the dramatic game-winner just one minute into the second overtime.
Geroy is currently leading the conference in points and assists, averaging 3.4 and 2.25 respectively.
The tenth-ranked Royals were voted into the United States Inside Lacrosse Association's top 10 last week; the first time the team has cracked the polls in the program's history.
Royals men's lacrosse Head Coach
Jim Fritz commented on Geroy's early success.
"Corey has had to step up into a bigger role this year and responded. He is a hard worker and has started to become more of a leader on the field. I think winning the award is a good indicator of all that starting to come together for him."
