Men’s golf places fourth at Barton Intercollegiate

Pureum Lee championed Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Pureum Lee (North Vancouver, B.C., Canada, Handsworth Secondary) was four-over-par at the two-round Barton Intercollegiate to lead Queens to a fourth place finish out of the 15-team field. Lee's 147 was good for a 14th place finish out of the 90-player field.

The Wilson Country Club, host of this year's NCAA D-II Southeast Regional (set for May 3-5), played to a par 72 at 6,851 yards. More players (five) broke par this year than in any of the previous 34 years the event has been held. The greens were pure and the weather was perfect both days (high 60s to low 70s).

Queens' fourth place finish, a tie with Coker, was12 strokes behind first place Flagler, nine strokes behind second place Barton and eight behind UNC-Pembroke. The Royals team total was 592.

David Bainbridge (England, Thomas Alleynes) carded rounds of 75-73 (148) to take 14th place. The remaining three members of the five-man squad, Ben Lasso (Falls Church, Va., Heritage Academy), Robert Andrew Hodge (Hebron, Ky., Conner) and Ryan Sevigny (Stittsville, Ontario, Sacred Heart), finished in 26th, 33rd and 48th places, respectively.
