MATTHEWS, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team joined a number of their fellow students on October 30th in volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Matthews helping to complete the building of four homes. Many clubs and organizations at Queens came together to help make a difference in the community.
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. The Habitat program strives to bring affordable housing to those who are ineligible for conventional financing. Habitat homeowners fulfill 400 “sweat equity” hours by working on their own build site and neighboring sites. After the sweat equity program, Habitat for Humanity Matthews offers its partner families a zero-interest home-loan with no down payment.
The group of volunteers arrived at the site around nine in the morning dressed in Queens gear ready to lend a hand where ever needed. The Royals spent their time painting the interior walls of the homes.
The women's lacrosse traditional season begins in the spring. Their 2011 schedule is online now for viewing.
