CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Be sure to join the Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's basketball teams on Oct. 22 at 5pm to mark the beginning of the 2010-2011 campaigns at the first-ever Ballin' on Burwell celebration. The event is the efforts of multiple offices on campus, including the Department of Athletics, Student Life, Student Government and the Sports Marketing Association.
The party is really three parties in one. To start is dinner and games from 5pm until 6:30pm. A barbeque dinner will be provided, and intramurals is holding a three-on-three tournament and dunk contest on a nine-foot hoop being judged by the men's basketball team. Lawn games, inflatable bounce houses, and other activities and will all be open to students, staff and the community who come out for the event.
At 7:30pm the Royals 2010-2011 basketball squads will be announced and introduced for the first time this year. Head Men's Basketball Coach Wes Long is going to host a special portion of the night called “Tawkin' Trash”. “Tawkin' Trash” is a time to learn some new ways to cheer on the teams this year. After the introductions and “Tawkin' trash”, the men's basketball team will put on a show with a dunk contest.
To close out the night, the party will move from Burwell Circle to the lawn between the library and clock tower for a bonfire.
The event is free and open to the public.
