CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Jack McGetrick, the head lacrosse coach at Bellarmine University, is battling prostate cancer and the IMLCA (Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association) is asking their entire membership to “Work for Jack” by sponsoring a clinic to help raise funds for his ever increasing medical costs. The Queens University of Charlotte men’s lacrosse team is answering the call for help by hosting a clinic on Jan 23. The two part clinic, one for players and one for coaches, is being held at the Queens University of Charlotte Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park.
Also joining the Queens volunteers are the staff members of the Catawba College men’s lacrosse team.
All players between the ages of seven and 17 are invited to attend the clinic from 1-4pm with a cost of $60.
The coaches’ clinic will run from 2-4pm in classroom A and the cost associated is $25. Anyone is invited to attend this clinic.
Registration for both clinics will start at 12:30.
Besides starting the team at Bellarmine, MecGetrick helped Hartford University lacrosse gain national prominence. Some of MecGetrick’s playing experience includes long time lacrosse fixtures Bill Tierney and Dave Urick at Cortland, under legendary coach Jack Emmer. While at Bellarmine Coach McGetrick has recruited a number of North Carolina players.
All checks can be made out to IMLCA Coaches Emergency Fund or you can send a direct donation to IMLCA Coaches Emergency Fund IMLCA, PO Box 644, Forestdale, MA 02644.
