Stephan LeBlanc was selected by the Toronto Rock Lacrosse Club.
BUFFALO, N.C.- Former Queens University of Charlotte All-American Stephan LeBlanc (Restoule, Ontario, Highland) was the number 11 pick in the 2009 National Lacrosse League draft held Wednesday night at the HSBC Arena. LeBlanc was selected by the Toronto Rock Lacrosse Club who had three first round picks. The Rock focused on building their offence, as they have already secured defenders Sandy Chapman, Phil Sanderson, Dave Cutten and Tyler Codron so far this off-season.
The Division II forward started in all 14 games for the Royals and compiled a team high 75 points on 54 goals and 21 assists. He followed that up by a solid rookie season with the Langley Thunder located in Langley, British Columbia, Canada where he banked 42 points. In July, LeBlanc was named the NCAA statistical champion for the 2008-2009 season for total points per game. LeBlanc averaged 5.43 points per game this season. The Conference Carolinas Player of the Year also finished second in goals per game with 3.86.
The Toronto Rock Lacrosse Club also selected Garrett Billings (6th overall), a Langley B.C. native out of the University of Virginia and Joel Dalgarno (7th overall), Ohio State's captain from Port Coquitlam, B.C., in the first round. After sitting out the second round, Toronto's third round picks included Damon Edwards (31st overall) coming off a Minto Cup win with the Orangeville Northmen. They also selected Anthony Lackey (43rd overall) in the fifth round and John Quarrie (53rd overall) in the sixth.
