Queens posts fall, winter schedules

Royals ready for 2009-2010 seasons

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte's Department of Athletics has posted the fall and winter 2009-2010 schedules for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's golf. The schedules are available on the Royals' website www.queensatheltics.com.

Below are a few highlights from each schedule:

Men's and Women's Cross Country
- Will run in four meets, three in Boone, N.C.
- Hosting the 2009 Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championship

Men's Soccer
- Two pre-season scrimmages and an alumni game
- Seven home games
- Nine away games
- Five non-conference opponents
- Queens faces three who finished the 2008 season nationally ranked, Tusculum, Lees-McRae and Limestone.

Women's Soccer
- Alumni game
- Nine home games
- 11 away games
- Seven non-conference opponents
- Queens will see three 2008 nationally ranked opponent, Columbus State (No. 5), Carson-Newman (No. 13), and  UNC-Pembroke (No. 22) and all 10 of the Southeast Regional top 10 teams of 2008

Volleyball
- Alumni game
- 11 home matches
- 18 away matches
- Nine non-conference opponents
- Playing in the Armstrong Atlantic Tournament. Will play Armstrong Atlantic who advanced to the Elite Eight last year
- Queens will see five regionally ranked teams including conference opponent Pfeiffer and Anderson

Men's Golf
- Hosting second annual tournament, this year at TPC Sawgrass
- Playing in three additional tournaments, including the Regional Preview
- Queens will face regional competition in each tournament as well as a few nationally ranked programs

Women's Golf
- Hosting second annual tournament at TPC Sawgrass with a field that should include numerous nationally ranked programs
- Playing in three additional tournaments
- Will compete against strong regional teams in each tournament


Men's Basketball
- 14 home games
- 13 away games
- Five non-conference opponents, three on the road, two at home
- Play in first Conference Carolinas-South Atlantic Conference Tip-Off Classic to open the season
- Queens will face four teams who advanced to the NCAA Tournament 

Women's Basketball
- 13 home games
- 13 away games
- Four non-conference opponents
- Queens will play  three regionally ranked teams, and two NCAA tournament participants, Lander and Anderson
