Charlotte, N.C.- Michael Crouch (Yucca Valley, Calif., Yucca Valley ) is the May InterCon Male Student-Athlete of the Month here at Queens University of Charlotte. This is Crouch's fourth time earning the title this year.
The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Crouch as the Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year.
In the NCAA National Championships Crouch pushed past defending national champion and 2009 NCAA DII Track Athlete of the Year Aaron Braun of Adams State in the final 100 meters of the NCAA DII National Outdoor Track Championships' 1500-meter run to earn his second NCAA national title. He clocked in at 3:49.83.
Coach Simmons had this to say about his athlete:
"I believe that Michael could have more easily won either the 5,000 or 10,000-meter races and choosing the 1500-meters certainly created a challenge for him. But in what has become his nature through tough consistency in training, Michael can focus on a challenge and give it his best effort. To upset a guy like Adams State's Aaron Braun, who is a senior and has dominated this event at NCAA's for two years, really shows what Michael is capable. He's capable of anything he believes he can do and anything he prepares to do."
Crouch is out of town training hard for next season so we weren't able to catch up with him to ask him about his big win.
