CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte is proud to announce the addition of Jacob Baxter to the men’s lacrosse program as an assistant coach. Baxter, a native of Severna Park, Md., holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland.

“So far my time at Queen's has been fantastic. Everyone on the staff has been very helpful and friendly," said Baxter. "As for joining the Queen's lacrosse team I am very excited.  It is a young program that has already done a lot of outstanding things under Coach Fritz.  Each year the program has been making the necessary steps to make it to the national championship game. I hope I can help Coach Fritz and the team reach the ultimate goal which is winning the national championship.”

While at Maryland, Baxter worked his way up each year and was in the starting lineup by his senior season. He was a pivotal part of the Terrapin defense his entire career. The Terrapins made it to the NCAA quarter finals during Baxter’s senior year. His efforts on the field helped him in earning the team’s Unsung Hero award in 2008.

Before College, Baxter was a standout player in the state of Maryland at Severna Park High School in his hometown of Severna Park, Md. He was an all-county player in Anne Arundel County his senior year as he led his team to a 17-1 record.

Head men’s lacrosse coach Jim Fritz had this to say about his new assistant; "I am excited to add Jacob to the staff. I think that he is going to be a very good coach and I am looking forward to seeing what he can bring to our program. Coming from Maryland, one of the best programs in the country, I know he will bring a lot to our program and help our players improve individually and as a team. We have been fortunate to have some outstanding young coaches previously and I think Jacob will continue that trend”.

After graduation Baxter served as a Local Development Officer for the English Lacrosse Association. While in Manchester he worked for Timperley Lacrosse Club where he coached the U-16, U-19, senior men, and University of Manchester club team. His U-19 team won the championship for the first time since 2004 and his senior men’s team made it to the final four. The University team went undefeated throughout the regular season.
