The Queens University of Charlotte men’s lacrosse team is ranked number two in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook’s 2010 preseason Conference Carolinas rankings. The Royals’ Louie Boyle (Bel Air, Md., Bel Air), Mike Delallo (Syracuse, N.Y., West Genesee), and Hunter Roof (Prince Frederick, Md., Calverton) were named preseason All-Conference selections.

Having previously won the Deep South regular season championship, the Royals come into 2010 with a wave of momentum after winning the program’s first Conference Carolinas regular season championship in 2009. Looking to build on last season’s success, the Royals will rely on several returning players.

Boyle, a senior attackman, earned All-Conference Third team honors last spring as he recorded 25 goals, eight assists, and 29 ground balls. Delallo, a junior midfielder, tallied 86 ground balls while winning .608 percent (202-130) of his face offs as he earned All-Conference Second team honors as well as finishing in the top ten for Division II in face off winning percentage. Roof, a senior, was an All-Conference First team selection last year. As a defender, he played in each game as he posted 45 ground balls and caused three turnovers. This will be his fourth year as a starter and second as a team captain.

"After last season, I felt the number two preseason was where we should be,” said head coach Jim Fritz.  “But, of course we want to finish on top. I am excited for those three as they all were all-conference picks last year and I think they could be even better this year. I am hoping we have a few more guys ready to break out and follow the example set last year."
