CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte is proud to announce the signing of Emliy Poulton as the newest addition to its softball team. Poulton, a catcher from Temecula, California, will come to Queens in the fall of 2010. As a junior at Great Oak High School, she had 10 RBIs in 61 plate appearances while not committing an error behind the plate.
Poulton's experience also includes the starting catching position for the San Diego Elite travel team. Head Coach Stacey Schramm stated, "Emily is the perfect fit for the Queens University Softball Program. I recruited her to handle our excellent pitching staff, and also to take control of the infield,” said Schramm.
In the summer of 2009, she was invited to play with Storm USA Women’s Softball Team where she took part in international play against the Australian National Team. “She will bring a level of intensity and authority to the field, which is exactly what our young squad needs. We're very excited that Queens attracted such a high caliber player."
