CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The cheerleaders and Rex of Queens University of Charlotte attended "Let Us Play!" sponsored by Girl Scouts and the Carolinas Panthers on November 7, 2009. The event featured the Panthers' Junior Training Camp, track and field events, a dance workshop led by the TopCats, and a cheerleading workshop led by Rex and our Royals Cheerleaders.
The Let Us Play! Foundation was formed to fill the void in athletic opportunities for the youth of our community. They strive to motivate children, to take advantage of the life-long benefits associated with both sports and education. The emphasis of the Foundation is to promote involvement in athletics and encourage the good health and consistent work ethic associated with participation in sports.
Saturday's event was an all-day event that more than 100 girls attended. The Royals Cheerleaders led the girls in proper stretching and jumping technique, and then taught them several sideline chants. At the conclusion of the workshop, the girls were split in half. The two groups of girls, alongside the Royals Cheerleaders, chose a cheer that had just been taught, and added a spirited entrance with jumps and tumbling and then performed it for each other.
Come out and see the Royals Cheerleaders in action during the 2009-2010 basketball season.
