SALISBURY, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte defeated Catawba College 8-1 in men’s tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center.  It marked the final fall match of the season for the Royals who have a 4-0 record. The Catawba Indians finished their fall season 4-2.

The Royals controlled much of the match against Catawba winning five out of six of their singles matches in two games of play. Gustavo Munhoz (Santos, Brazil, COC Universitario)defeated Thomas Mitchell at the three spot in three games with scores of 2-6, 6-3, and 6-4.

The lone point on the day for Catawba came at number two doubles when Yuri Yarkoni and Tom McCormack claimed an 8-5 win over Munhoz and Christopher Kennedy (Colorado Springs, Co., TCA).

The Royals who finished their 2008-2009 season ranked 40th in the country will look to improve even more during their off season. Their 4-0 start in the fall gives them the confidence needed to continue their hard work so that they can climb the polls in the spring.
