Neville leads women’s cross country this weekend

Queens was in Louisville, Ky.

LOUISVILLE, K.Y.- Jessica Neville (Cold Spring, N.Y., Haldane) ran to a second place finish in the this weekend at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Ky., helping the Royals take third place. The 5,000m race was hosted by the Greater Louisville Sports Commission at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.

Queens competed in the Blue Division made up of NCAA Division I and II and some NAIA teams. In addition to Neville's 18:31.90 run for second place, Queens' Maraya Slatter (Benson, N.C., West Johnston) crossed the finish line amongst the top 10 runners. Slatter, who took eighth place, ran the 5,000m in 19:00.42. Holly Annas (Granite Falls, N.C., South Caldwell) rounded out the top 20 finishers in 19th place.

Rounding out the Queens team was Katie Snow (Brewer, Me., Brewer), 60th, Sarah Khan (Miami, Fla., Hialeah Miami Lake), 85th, Hannah DeMarco (Charlotte, N.C., E.E. Waddell), 144th, and Olivia Chester (Statesboro, Ga., Statesboro), 198th, respectively.

Queens has one more outing before the Conference Carolinas Championship on Oct. 23. The Royals will make their third trip to Boone, N.C., this time for the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State on Oct. 16.
