CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Freshman golfer Craig Deberg (Edina, Minn., Edina) led the Queens University of Charlotte men's golf team to a second place finish at the Conference Preview hosted by Pfeiffer University at the Tillery Golf Club in Mt. Geald, N.C., on Oct. 20-21. The Royals were just 12 shots off the first place Mount Olive College team who finished the tournament even.
DeBerg was just one stroke over at the end of the two-round tournament. He shot a 71 on the first day and a 74 the second. The 145 tournament total is the best two-round tournament DeBerg has turned in so far.
Tied for seventh and just one shot off of DeBerg was Robert Andrew Hodge (Hebron, Ky., Conner). Hodge shot a 71 on the first day and a 75 the second.
Also swinging for Queens was Ryan Sevigny (Stittsville, Ontario, Sacred Heart), 149, Scott Kegerreis (Chambersburg, Pa., Chambersburg), 152, and Robert Blaker (Newcastle, Ontario, Clarke), 155, respectively.
The tournament marked the last outing for the team during the fall season.
